Hi guys,

I should have said hi as the first post but since I asked for help and received help from Santai here, I figure I have more to say.

I'm from vb.org as well (under quantnet.org name). As other admin who run VB, the hardest thing is to settle on a style that meets your need and allows for future expansion.

I have been phpbb admin for quite sometime before I moved to vB 3 months ago. Since then, I learn my way around doing things in VB and install 20+ styles and countless mods. I'm a nut when it comes to trying new stuff.

It's getting to a point where my members see new default styles everyday when they log in

They've been asking when would I stop this madness and I believe I can tell them that " very soon"

The reason is that I just happened to see vBRevisited style on vb.org yesterday. Its elegance won me over. Probably, I was so tired of not finding the style I like and spent too much time editing templates to achieve what i want.

Santai told me to visit here to see the answer for some of my questions, so here I am. I asked some questions here and Santai was kind enough to help me till the end. Not because I paid him, but because I'm a member. And use his free style

I usually don't spend much time on any forum unless they offer something unique and useful. How the admin treat new members also play an important role (I should know this since I'm admin myself)

Another surprise is to see Lilu here. I read her posts at TAZ often and found that she is more relaxing here, unlike at TAZ

So, that should sum up who, how and why I am here. I don't use English at home so don't get on my grammar and typos too much.

It's not really that I'm more relaxed here than at TAZ - it's more that they're two different kinds of sites

You'll find Ken (santai) replies to the support requests far more than I do as he's much better at coding than I am. I stick with design of styles and graphic making instead 90% of the time, but I'm gradually looking into the coding too.

The decision to build this site was based on the fact we both couldn't find any vb-related style site out there that gave enough support on their styles (both free and purchaseware) and focused so much on the standard blue/grey colours and graphic-intense styles and we both felt that there was a need for cleaner, neater styles as well as a broader colour range than is available.

We were also running a site called GFXUtopia which focused on free graphics and graphic discussion so it eventually made sense to combine the two sitse together under the one roof so we didn't have to keep hopping around from site to site to reply to stuff.

We're of the opinion that you get what you give out here, in that by offering our support to our users of both free and purchaseware styles, we'll receive their support in return which has the knock on effect of us designing more styles and giving more help. A win-win situation, I feel <grin>

We're not quite a year old - which is very young in the forum world - but I hope we're getting our name out there and are doing are best to give 110% with styles and support and everything inbetween!!!

Glad to learn about the history of the site. I was under impression that this site has been around a long time based on the number of posts.

Pretty good job I have to say. It would be pretty funny to see if VB use GFX vbRevisited style as default or as alternative to their style in the next upgrade..

I'm sure will need your help in many graphic requests....I'm looking to build a header image that has NYC skyline as a background, some other pic of building, students, Wall Street, etc

Should I make the request now or pay my newbie due here first
